AerOceaNetwork member Express Air Freight turns 10!

In AerOceaNetwork Member News on May 10, 2010 at 7:55 am

AerOceaNetwork would like to offer our congratulations to Express Air Freight for hitting their milestone of ten years in operation last week!  The CEO of the Express Group, Mr. David Marx, issued the below statement:

It just seems like yesterday when we started off with one single desk on May 7, 1990.  Today we have 10  EAF offices in the United States and an EAF office in Hong Kong.

We have grown only through hard work, dedication , honesty, and our continuous commitment to a high standard of customer service.

As the CEO of Express Air Freight – and on behalf of all EAF associates – we want everyone to know that we have the same amount of passion for and commitment to our customers and overseas agent partners today – as we did on the day we began this journey!

We want to thank our dedicated staff of hard working associate professionals at Express Air Freight ;   our customers;   our worldwide network of agent partners ; and our vendors   who all  have been integral in making this day come about.  We could not have achieved this milestone without everyone’s assistance and contribution.

As we enter our next twenty years – we will continue our focus and commitment to offering the best in customer service and our dedication to all our worldwide partners.  We will also train a new generation of leaders who are as committed and passionate as the present management is towards serving our customers.   We will continue to  commit to our EAF associates and show the same compassion as we have shown for the past 20 years.  Our people are our greatest asset – we know it;  we appreciate them and we thank them!!!  We hope to  lead the industry with our low turnover rate!

In 2008/2009 Express Air Freight was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the 5000 fastest growing privately held companies in America!   We have our sights set on trying to achieve this accolade again for 2010!!!

I am so proud of all the Express Air Freight offices throughout the USA and the management partnerships that we have enjoyed over the past 15 since we opened these offices.  Some of the staff in these offices worked with me at my previous employment over 20 years ago and we are so pleased, appreciative and proud of these longstanding partnerships!

I want to thank my brother Ronald Marx – who has been the ultimate best business partner for the last 25 years beginning with our sister company Daron Worldwide Trading – which he is the CEO of.

Lastly I want to thank my wife Karen Yang –who works at EAF and  who has been instrumental in supporting and encouraging me over the past 10 years!!

Once again thank you to EVERYONE in helping us achieve this milestone!!  We could not have done it without you!!!

We could not have said it better ourselves.

Celtic Forwarding Commits to become Paper Free by working with TradeFacilitate

In AerOceaNetwork Announcements, AerOceaNetwork Member News on October 1, 2009 at 10:45 am

Celtic Forwarding LogoHaving recently participated in a successful 18-month EU pilot project on paper-free trade, Celtic Forwarding Ltd is now fully committed to going paper-free by working with TradeFacilitate, a secure online system for importers and exporters, as a means to reducing costs and increasing competitiveness in the international trading supply chain.

The EU pilot project, which was led by TradeFacilitate, demonstrated that we were able to move wine/alcohol from exporters within the EU and the New World to their importers in Ireland totally paper-free, delivering significant savings for everyone involved.

Describing the project as exemplary, the EU has now validated the TradeFacilitate system as an ideal low cost paper-free solution for SMEs upwards.

Trading goods internationally involves lots of people processing lots of paperwork:

* From Importer to Exporter to Broker to Transporter, etc.
* From Order to Invoice to Shipping to Customs, etc.

Finbarr Cleary

Finbarr Cleary of Celtic Forwarding

“Paper drives costs up in terms of additional staff time to manage paper, additional phone/fax/courier expenses to move paper, and additional time delays from having the wrong paper,” said Finbarr Cleary, a director of Celtic Forwarding, “Celtic will help traders to use the paper-free system to cut their costs, as well as passing on the savings we achieve ourselves to our clients.”

“The time to act is now,” continued Cleary, “New EU Customs rules in support of paper-free trade now requires advance electronic notification of exports out of Ireland, and for imports into Ireland from 1st January 2010 and earlier, depending on the first port of landing in the EU.”

The new eCustoms rules are known as:

* ECS (Export Control System) for Pre-Departure Notifications
* ICS (Import Control System) for Pre-Arrival Notifications

The rules shift responsibility for the safety and security of internationally traded goods onto the traders themselves (importers and exporters).

László Kovács

László Kovács: EU Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union

“Customs today also plays a vital role in the fight against terrorism. However, taking into account the continuously growing global trade, we have to follow a balanced approach between security and trade facilitation,” said László Kovács, the European Union Commissioner responsible for Taxation and Customs. “Reliable traders must benefit from sufficiently far-reaching trade facilitation measures”.

If the trade data is not made available to the appropriate customs authority in a timely manner and in the correct format, then an instruction may be issued to the exporting party not to load the goods for shipment.

By introducing advance electronic notification, the EU wants to encourage the move to paper-free trade which can deliver savings of up to 15% on the total cost of trading across the supply chain, based on calculations on the cost of documentation in international trade by the United Nations, Microsoft and other respected authorities.

Joachim Weber with Hermann

In 2009 two thousand years will have past since the Battle of Varus ended in a devastating defeat of the Roman army in the remote region Germania, according to Roman authors. The exact date is not known. However, the Battle of Varus in 9 AD was a turning point in European history. Due to the course of events and its historical background, its research and multifaceted ramifications, it is even today – and especially after 2000 years – an event which enables people to comprehend the past and thus the present.

On May15th the festivities around the anniversary of the battle of Arminus against the Roman Empire were officially
opened by our chanchelor, Mrs. Angela Merkel.
Arminius, son of Cheruscan nobleman Segimer, was conceived to be pro-Roman: The young Germanic warrior, educated in Rome, was a cavalry officer and Roman citizen.

With the all the celebrations and activities in this area, 50 Hermanns have been sold to local companies in order to have them individually
decorated as art to show the pride of the region in conjunction with the company activities. Hence, Skyline Express` “Hermann” shows the all continents of the world with our red goose crossing.

We also have established our “Hermann” as our new “Security Manager”.
